About Us:

The United States Drowning Research Alliance (USDRA) is a research-driven non-profit committed to reducing drowning incidents through rigorous research, public education, and community engagement. We collaborate with academic institutions, policymakers, and aquatic safety experts to advance knowledge and practices that save lives.


Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and research-oriented undergraduate student to join our team as a Social Media Marketing Intern. This role is ideal for a student with a strong interest in research, academia, and public health, who is looking to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting. As an intern, you will contribute to USDRA's social media presence by developing and sharing content that highlights research findings, academic insights, and advances in drowning prevention and aquatic safety.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Development: Create and curate content that communicates USDRA's research, academic collaborations, and findings related to drowning prevention and aquatic safety on social media platforms.

  • Research Communication: Translate complex research findings into accessible and engaging content for a general audience.

  • Campaign Execution: Assist in the planning and execution of social media campaigns that focus on promoting academic research and public awareness initiatives.

  • Engagement: Monitor and interact with academic communities, researchers, and followers on social media to foster a dialogue around drowning prevention.

  • Analytics & Reporting: Track and analyze the performance of research-focused social media campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

  • Research & Trends: Stay informed about the latest research in drowning prevention and aquatic safety, as well as emerging trends in academic communication on social media.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with USDRA's research and communications teams to ensure alignment in messaging and to amplify academic content.


Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, preferably in Public Health, Environmental Studies, Communications, or a related field, with a focus on research and academia.

  • Strong interest or background in research, particularly in drowning prevention, aquatics, or public health.

  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and a keen interest in leveraging them to disseminate academic knowledge.

  • Basic understanding of social media analytics tools.

  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.

  • Must list current academic institution in the application.
